Bronze fish Indian tribal art

Ancient bronze fish. This is actually a bronze/brass incense burner in the shape of a fish, made using the traditional Indian Dhokra technique (lost-wax casting). Tribal craftsmanship, most likely from the Bastar region (Chhattisgarh) or West Bengal/Odisha. Estimated dating: late 19th – first half of the 20th century. Features: • Openwork body (lattice/grid pattern) • Opening under the belly for placing incense • Small legs, fins, and forked tail • Beautiful original dark patina A lovely decorative and functional object, typical of Indian folk art. In good condition.
