It is a showcase library in Art Nouveau style, from around 1900-1910. The typical "whiplash" lines of this period are immediately recognisable: organic curves, plant inspiration, and a rejection of classical symmetry. Materials and structure: Wood essence: Walnut with a beautiful original honey patina. Facade: A glass door covering 2/3 of the height, revealing 2 internal wooden shelves. The glass is highlighted by a wooden cut-out decoration representing stems and plant interlacing, a signature of Art Nouveau. Lower part: Solid, with moulded panels featuring a semicircular motif. Pediment: Very elaborate, in shaped wood with a large asymmetrical sinuous line. Two small cross motifs adorn the upper corners. Base: Rests on 4 small feet.
