Crystal Centrepiece

Antique Centrepiece Bowl in Bohemian Crystal with Amber Overlay - over 5kg. Superb and imposing bowl on a pedestal (centrepiece) in Bohemian crystal with amber overlay. This is a piece of craftsmanship from Central Europe in the 20th century, made using the overlay technique. The coloured upper layer has been cut and wheel-engraved to reveal the transparent crystal and create a stunning relief decoration. Large central medallion with floral motifs featuring remarkable matte and shiny engraving work. The rest of the bowl is richly cut with geometric patterns that beautifully capture the light. Very massive piece, heavy and dense crystal with a high lead content. The crystal has superb transparency, is very shiny, and is not cloudy. Note: There are a few small chips (superficial flakes) on the upper rim (see close-up photos). The price reflects this. These defects do not affect the piece's solidity and can be smoothed or polished by a professional. An exceptional piece, very luminous, ideal for elegant decoration or to complement a collection of antique glassware. Collection in person is strongly preferred.
