Description: Secretary with a curved "camelback" flap in solid cherry wood, signed by the Jean Laick workshop, an artistic cabinetmaker from Dol-de-Bretagne. Curved front and sides, curved legs, flap opening to an interior composed of four small drawers and niches, two drawers at the bottom, patinated bronze handles in Rococo style. The Laick workshop (founded by Jean Laick, 1924-2020) is known for its traditionally inspired solid wood furniture, cabinetmaking joints (visible dovetails), and meticulous finishes — a signature sought after by enthusiasts, far from industrial-style productions. Stamped "Jean Laick" on the back of the piece (photo provided). Dimensions: L 65 × D 51.5 × H 99 cm — compact size, ideal for an entrance, bedroom, or office. Condition: very good, original varnish well preserved, complete hardware (functional key). The leather on the flap shows natural wear (scratches, partial loss of the black surface, gold trim worn in places). Some light scratches on the top and sides. Small signs of old, dry insect activity are visible on the back (flexibility checked, wood healthy). This first-hand piece remains functional and very aesthetic. Check my other listings: the Coubertin desk and the library showcase complement this classic spirit well.
