Charming antique jug in the shape of a lobster, made of orange-red glazed ceramic, hand-painted. It dates from the very beginning of the 20th century, around 1900, a period when fancy tableware and objects inspired by the marine world adorned seaside tables. Both decorative and functional, this small jug could serve as a sauce boat for shellfish or accompany seafood platters. Today, it adds a joyful and characterful touch to a table, in a kitchen, or within a collection of folk art. Two models are available and sold separately. The lighter model bears the inscription Tréport, a famous seaside resort in Normandy. Light model. Height 10 cm. Length 9 cm. Width 5 cm. Dark model. Height 8 cm. Length 12 cm. Width 6 cm. Very good overall condition for antique pieces of this era. Beautiful shiny glaze, lovely reliefs, and warm colours. An antique decorative object, typical of the maritime world and Belle Époque tables, equally appealing alone or in pairs.
