Umbertine commode in mahogany and walnut, 19th century.
Umbertine commode in mahogany and walnut, 19th century. The commode conceals drawers with shaped fronts, made of walnut and veneered in mahogany, with tops in grey-white marble. It is a very refined piece of furniture with excellent construction that gives it a noble and affected appearance. Very good overall condition consistent with age and use; wooden surface with some scratches and minor defects, wear with a splendid patina, and natural cracks in the wood (on the internal drawers). There are two keys. The key for the top drawer is only for opening, the lock is jammed. The lock for the bottom drawer works well. The marble top is very heavy. There is a small chip on the corner (visible in the photos). Showing signs of woodworm (visible in the photos), it is advisable to have it treated. Measurements: Width 121 cm x depth 60 cm x height 97 cm. Made in Milan, Italy. Period: 1880s/1890s.
