Antique toilet basin in earthenware, Moulin des Loups Factory, 1950

An old wash basin signed by the famous Moulin des Loups factory. This piece showcases the traditional craftsmanship of the French pottery from Orchies. The piece is distinguished by a delicate romantic floral decoration in intense cobalt blue. A fully bloomed and stylised rose unfolds its petals in the foreground, accompanied by finely sketched foliage in shades of deep blue and powdery blue-grey, creating a beautiful visual relief. With a slightly bulging shape and octagonal lines, the basin is traversed at mid-height by an elegant horizontal blue band that structures and energises the body. Object characteristics: • Origin: France, Moulin des Loups factory (Orchies). • Decoration: Romantic floral motif "Grande Rose" in intense cobalt blue, enhanced by a blue band running along the body. • Dimensions: Diameter 32 cm / Height 10.2 cm. • Technique: Grand Feu decoration (ensuring the durability and brilliance of the pigments). • Marking: Original green stamp on the back (Moulin des Loups, France). Condition: The pottery is still quite shiny, and the blue patterns are clear and vibrant. Like any antique piece that has passed through the ages, it shows signs of normal use, with two small chips on the upper rim (see last photo).
