Oak pedestal

This oak pedestal from around 1900 is carved from solid oak and turned into a series of rhythmic twists in a screw motion. The square top and the broad, stepped base give the piece an architectural presence. Used as a plinth or as a sculptural object in itself, it brings depth and character to a space. The dark patina accentuates the grain of the wood. Hairline cracks due to natural shrinkage have been left visible and are part of the authentic character of the piece. Good vintage condition with age-related wear. The construction remains stable. Natural shrinkage cracks and minor surface marks are visible throughout the column.
