Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then moved to soft-ground etching, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, for shadow theatre at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours). Our numerous photos allow you to appreciate the quality of this lithograph. For the condition, please refer to the detailed photos. Feel free to zoom in.
