A round mahogany table by André Sornay (1902-2000), the renowned Lyon-based cabinetmaker and a major figure in French modernist design, circa 1960. The circular mahogany top, with its deep and regular grain, rests on a solid mahogany base assembled using Sornay's patented "tigette" system, his signature innovation. The exposed mortise and tenon joints reveal both his precise construction and refined sense of proportion, characteristic of his post-war creations. A balanced and elegant piece that embodies Sornay's vision of functional and architectural furniture, crafted from the finest materials. Provenance: Rhône-Alpes region, France, circa 1960.
