Pair of vintage armchairs with a white tubular frame, model Tub-Kit, attributed to Portuguese designer João Américo Pinto de Oliveira, created for Altamira & Plimat in the early 1980s, around 1984. A particularly graphic and playful design, constructed from plastic tubes assembled with connectors, in the radical and experimental spirit of postmodern furniture from the 70s/80s. The two armchairs retain their thick cushions in green and white checked fabric, tufted with white buttons. Condition: The frames are in very good overall condition, solid and perfectly stable, with some normal signs and marks related to their age. However, as the armchairs have been used outdoors, the fabrics show signs of wear and would benefit from a good refresh. The seats could be cleaned or, ideally, covered with new fabric, which would also allow for complete personalisation of the pair. A relatively simple textile restoration to restore the full brilliance of these armchairs with a particularly original design. Sold as a pair. Vintage furniture – 1980s design – tubular structure – PVC – postmodernism – Space Age – Portuguese design.
