Large Imari bowl mounted in gilded bronze – Japan – late 19th century

Superb Japanese Imari porcelain bowl, richly decorated in traditional cobalt blue, iron red, and gold highlights. The finely chiselled gilded bronze mount, with openwork decoration and stylised zoomorphic handles, adds a very decorative elegance inspired by the Napoleonic III style. The decoration features floral reserves and a stylised central vase, typical of Imari productions intended for export in the late 19th century. Very beautiful decorative presence.
