Vintage 1940 globe terrestrial glass Duo Erdglobus Berlin - 42 cm

Immense vintage world map lamp German Duo Erdglobus in glass, paper, wood, and chrome metal circa 1940 in good condition. This magnificent large piece weighs nearly 3.5 kg and is written in German, Duo for political and geographical (it features the names of countries from that time and shows the reliefs). It is not dated; however, one can read the former French colonies in North Africa as well as the Indian Union (1947-1950) which became India in 1950, so it is certainly a globe made in the late 1940s. Regarding its condition, the wooden and chrome base as well as the arch are impeccable. The paper map is absolutely stunning, displaying a few discreet missing pieces here and there (South America or towards Mongolia) and light slightly escapes from the paper interstices. The colours are very vibrant, and the shades that appear when it is illuminated make it a sumptuous decorative object. It measures 42 cm in height, the globe diameter is 33 cm, and it has a depth of 35 cm. By adopting this vintage object, you are giving a second life to a treasure from the past — thank you for making sustainable decoration rhyme with history and a gesture for the planet.
