For 70 years, luminarc has been sharing the french art of living on a daily basis... At the beginning of the twentieth century, jacques durand was the owner of the verrerie cristallerie d'arques which produced unbranded glasses. Marketing didn't exist yet! In the 30s, he was inspired by the know-how of american glassworks and ensured the expansion and reputation of the manufacture internationally. After the second world war, it produced the first stemmed glass: the famous balloon glass. In 1948, jacque durand created the luminarc brand, to offer his customers all over the world the best products at an affordable price. Luminarc brings quality to the tables and kitchens of the world so that everyone can enjoy the best of french style. Fun fact: the name luminarc could be the result of the merger between "lum" light and "arc" for the city of arques. But this is not the case! This is the name of the barge, acquired in 1939 by jacques durand, which was used to transport sand and silica to the factory.
