Large antique mirror from the late 19th century with a sculpted pediment in the Louis Philippe style. This mirror originally adorned a marble fireplace in a Parisian apartment. The frame is made of wood and stucco, featuring a luminous silvered patina finish, embellished with a generous upper cornice composed of acanthus leaves and floral motifs carved in relief, as well as a delicately chiselled frieze around its entire perimeter. The backing consists of several assembled boards that were used at the time to insulate and protect the fine layer of tin or mercury covering the glass. This is a handcrafted piece from the period made by a Parisian mirror maker.
