Mid Century Dining chair n.1515 by Oswald Haerdtl for TON Company

This is an original chair designed by austrian architect oswald haerdtl in the 1950's as model 1515 and produced by renowned czech furniture company ton. This particular piece does not have a producer label attached to the chair anymore. This model was developed from the popular model no.515 but was made in much smaller quantities. It is now considered iconic and is a very collectible and sought after piece. Oswald haerdtl (1899-1959) is often viewed as one of the most influential austrian architects of the 20th century. On this chair he created very expressive design form whilst using a minimalist language - with a total focus on every detail. For example the hidden screws in the back rest, beautifully carved armrests, and the materiality of the dark coloured texture of the wood. This all makes this chair as modern and attractive as it was some 70 years ago. This chair is in great vintage condition. There is only some minimal wear and patina on its surfaces gained from the use over the years.
