Vintage stoneware jug in Westerwald style

A beautiful vintage stoneware jug in the Westerwald tradition, with a speckled grey salt glaze and broad freehand brush strokes in deep cobalt blue. The generous, rounded body narrows towards a ribbed neck and flares out again on a turned foot, offering a confident and well-balanced silhouette. The cobalt patterns — gestural, almost calligraphic — wrap around the belly of the jug with great energy. The handle is glazed in a deeper, shiny blue, contrasting beautifully with the grey background. Turned ring details at the neck and base complete the piece. Height 17 cm.
