Very rare and sumptuous model with minimalist cubic inspiration in enamelled stoneware. Sandstone mounted to the plate and modeled in profile. Covered with earth-gray enamel, glazed earth of shadow, prussian blue at the base, turquoise blue inside. Japan, mic century. Unique piece. Dimension h 27 X w 15 X d 8 cm condition very good condition, note the traces of wear due to time. Wabi sabi, authentic imperfection. Here is andrew juniper's definition, (wabi sabi: the japanese art of impermanence, 2003): "wabi sabi is an intuitive appreciation of ephemeral beauty in the physical world that reflects the irreversible flow of life in the spiritual world." Since wabi sabi can define beauty in the ephemeral, a simple flower in a vase fits this concept perfectly. Ikebana, the japanese floral art, is based on a harmony between asymmetry, space and depth to bring out the beauty of a refined floral composition.
