Table jean revol 195x130 descente de chai

Description: Exceptional and monumental oil on canvas signed by Jean Revol (1929–2012), titled Descente de chai. This masterful work, measuring 190 × 130 cm, with museum dimensions, has been featured in major institutional exhibitions, notably at the Musée de Créteil. Jean Revol, a renowned French expressionist artist, also a writer and art critic for the NRF, presents here a composition of rare plastic power. Close to the philosopher Gaston Bachelard — who said of his painting "that it dominated nightmares" — Revol reworks perspective through raw and dynamic lines of force. The painting unfolds a dizzying view from above into the heart of a wine cellar. The massive wooden beams, painted in warm, vibrant, and earthy tones, clash with shades of purple and emerald green. The pictorial material, rich and textured, beautifully captures the light and gives a unique physical presence to the canvas. An ideal centrepiece for a large living room, a loft, a cabinet of curiosities, or to enrich the collection of a 20th-century expressionist art enthusiast.
