A pair of solid beech wood armchair with modern curved armrests and feet. They were produced in the 1930-1940s by the up zavody furniture factory in czechoslovakia. These iconic pieces were designed by jan vanek, who was a czech designer and furniture maker, architect and co-founder of the united arts and crafts works. He worked with prominent architects of his time, such as jan kotěra and josef gočár, and contributed to the furnishing of villa tugendhat. His furniture stands out for its clean and timeless lines. The armchairs underwent complete professional restoration. The wooden frame has been hand polished to a silky finish. The canvas straps have been replaced and we added new seat cushions in a lovely, distressed, taupe coloured eco-leather with contrast piping and buttons in forest green.
