Black glazed ceramic sculpture signed Pouchain – Circa 1960 Maison Lecan offers you this rare and striking ceramic sculpture representing a stylized horse, signed Pouchain under the base. Produced in the 1960s, this work embodies the most creative period of the ceramic artist Robert Pouchain, then based in Dieulefit in the Drôme. Pouchain's bestiary, often imbued with humor and rustic naiveté, finds here a powerful translation in an almost totemic form. The raw material and the deep black enamel, punctuated with matte and satin reflections, evoke earth, fire, animality. The texture work is remarkable: mane and tail incised in the mass, body with powerful but nonchalant volumes, elongated muzzle almost hieratic. This unique or very rarely produced piece is emblematic of Pouchain's universe, on the border between folk art and modern sculpture. It will be perfect for a post-war ceramic collection, or as a statement piece in an interior with wabi-sabi, brutalist or modernist accents. Dimensions: H25 X W21 X D11 cm LDP Ref: 2025-LXJ0P.
