A striking asymmetrical wall mirror designed by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte in 1958, a refined expression of post-war Italian design where glass, light, and geometry converge with poetic clarity. This sculptural mirror is composed of an outer asymmetrical ring in smoked (fumè) glass, framing a suspended central mirror that appears to float within the composition. The two elements are held together by discreet brass clamps, whose warm tone creates a subtle yet deliberate contrast with the cool, smoky transparency of the glass. The layered construction enhances depth and shadow, giving the piece a strong architectural presence while maintaining an elegant visual lightness. The rear retains its original wooden backing and bears the original Galvanit Fontana / Luigi Fontana label, which reads: “Galvanit is a crystal mirror with a copper protection that guarantees its durability, ” confirming the authenticity of the piece. The hardware and fittings show a natural patina consistent with age, reinforcing its originality and historical integrity. Conditions: Good Vintage Condition.
