This sugar spoon, attributed to K.Wolf and crafted in Poland in the 1920s, exemplifies early metalwork where brass with a subdued golden hue reveals an abundance of detail. The slender, elongated handle is adorned with raised, pressed floral and foliate motifs, characteristic of late Art Nouveau merging into early Art Deco. The bowl, rectangular with rounded edges and a gently elevated rim, is designed for easy scooping of sugar. A matte surface is highlighted by a subtle sheen on the raised decorations, while a natural patina and minor wear marks testify to years of use. The construction is solid, with smooth, seamless joints and no visible repairs. The condition is very good—only minor signs of age-appropriate wear are present. This spoon carries the voice of the interwar period, when Polish craftsmanship skillfully balanced the finesse of Art Nouveau lines and ornamentation with the onset of Art Deco geometry. The tactile ornamentation evokes the atmosphere of domestic rituals, while each subtle patina and discoloration seems to recount intimate stories of family gatherings and carefully served tea. Over decades, the object gained depth, allowing its user to connect with a bygone era. The spoon may be used as part of a tea or coffee service, paired with a porcelain sugar bowl and retro-style cups. It will present well on a classic wooden table, where its golden tone harmonizes with natural materials. In a collector’s interior, it can be matched with other period accessories—glass, porcelain, or silver—or displayed as a single decorative accent in a showcase or on an antique shelf, creating a subtle dialogue with other elements of historic décor.
