Black Afo-Seat 2001 swivel chair by Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs

Designed in 1971 by Finnish designer Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs, the 'Afo-Seat 2001' exemplifies his forward-thinking approach to form and material. Crafted in moulded fibreglass, the chair’s sculptural shell features a distinctive circular opening in the backrest, balancing lightness with a bold modernist character. Mounted on a swivelling base, the design combines practicality with a playful sense of movement — a hallmark of Ornäs’s inventive 1970s work. Produced by SOK Rauman tehtaat. The chair remains in good vintage condition, showing normal wear and surface marks consistent with age and use.
