Traditional Chinese water bucket (水桶, shuitong) dating from the late Qing period, 19th century. Constructed from wooden staves assembled in a slightly flared shape towards the top, held together by two horizontal bands of blackened wrought iron. The rigid handle, typical of ancient Chinese buckets, is made from a curved piece of wood topped with a wide, flat head cut in a broken arc, reinforced with articulated wrought iron fittings allowing for rotation. The wood, likely pine or elm, has a beautiful honey-mahogany patina with grain. Dimensions: height 65 cm, diameter 35 cm. Weight: 6 kg.
