Enfilade-Buffet Vintage Louis XVI Modernised. Chevron Marquetry.
This sideboard is part of a magnificent and rare set of living room furniture dating from the second half of the 20th century (1960s). This set, with its "modernised Louis XVI" aesthetic in the style of Maison Jansen, is a true collector's piece that will fit perfectly into a contemporary interior. The three pieces (Table, Sideboard, and Display Cabinet) have been created in the same vein and share the same aesthetic codes, creating perfect harmony in a dining room or large living area. The exceptional walnut marquetry features a perfectly symmetrical "diamond point" (chevron) pattern, enhanced by elegant light inlays. The doors are also adorned with two round inlays typical of high-quality cabinetmaking of the time. The light-coloured top and facades harmonise with the dark wood (ebony or stained mahogany) belts and legs, creating great visual depth. The fittings (handles and lock entries) are made of chiselled and patinated bronze. The legs are tapered, fluted, and end with moulded brass sabot. 2. Large Curved Sideboard-Buffet. L 243cm X D 54cm X H 101cm. This buffet stands out with its slightly curved (bulging) front and three doors. The light wood veneer (walnut) is worked with a "diamond point" (chevron) pattern, perfectly symmetrical. As with the rest of the set, it features delicate round light wood inlays, a signature of this series. The contrast is striking with the dark wood belt, base, and legs. Fittings: The three doors are equipped with superb handles and lock entries in chiselled and patinated bronze, with a highly crafted style. Legs: It rests on slender tapered legs, ending with moulded brass sabot, typical of the modernised Louis XVI style. Sculpted Base: A long dark wood crosspiece, finely sculpted with an elegant curve, highlights the base of the piece.
