Handmade kilim carpet 138x73cm

Length: 138cm width: 73cm material: natural wool. The margum is a carpet halfway between the classic knotted stitch carpet and the woven kilim. Thinner than a knotted carpet, thicker than a kilim, the margoum carpet is unique in its kind. The weft of the margoum is always made of wool, and its warp is made of cotton. This is its peculiarity: this mixture gives it a rigid and solid appearance, heavier and thicker than its cousin kilim. The margoum carpet also has particular that it is made according to the traditions of the oldest with regard to its methods of weaving: the bottom of the margum is woven as on a kilim, and the patterns are embroidered using knots, as on a classic carpet, but upside down. The margum therefore has no hairs but a smooth appearance with reliefs. On its back side, the wool back threads testify to the artisanal authenticity of this handmade carpet.
