Bevelled mirror with pediment, Louis XV style – 2nd half of the 19th century

This superb wooden and gilded stucco pediment mirror, crafted in the Louis XV style, features a finely detailed frame adorned with an elegant frieze of pearls and floral garlands running around the entire perimeter. The lower part is distinguished by large stylised acanthus leaves, generously spread on the sides, whose deep modelling and warm gilding highlight the decorative richness of the whole. The pediment, a true centrepiece, is organised around a majestic shell with asymmetrical scrolls, emblematic of the Louis XV taste for flowing and natural forms. This shell is accompanied by delicate floral garlands, finely sculpted, which add a note of lightness and grace to the composition. At the bottom, each side is enhanced by a large stylised acanthus leaf. The whole exudes an impression of harmony, movement, and refinement, typical of the rococo aesthetic of the mid-18th century. This mirror stands out for the quality of its gilding, the precision of its reliefs, and the balance of its silhouette, making it a decorative piece of great elegance, capable of enhancing both a classic and contemporary interior.
