A singular coffee table composed of an ancient richly decorated oriental top and a contemporary driftwood base. Probably made in the second half of the 20th century, the dark wooden top features a remarkable marquetry design and mother-of-pearl inlays evoking ancient Egypt: a pharaoh on his chariot, a sphinx, pyramids, ankh, and the Eye of Horus. Its style and technique suggest an oriental craftsmanship, possibly originating from the Middle East. The top has been paired with a hand-painted driftwood base with a golden finish. The contrast between the ancient decoration and the contemporary organic structure makes it a truly unique piece. The top and base are independent and held together by a suction cup system. In very good overall condition. Some light signs of age and use, consistent with the piece's age. The marquetry and inlays are well preserved, with no significant loss or damage. Ideal for a living room, hallway, bedroom, or an interior blending oriental influences, contemporary furniture, and characterful objects. Materials: wood, marquetry, and mother-of-pearl inlays; driftwood base. Dimensions: top diameter approximately 50 cm – total height approximately 50 cm.
