We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare double-sided partner's desk with two Gillows Lancaster pedestals, made of speckled oak with panels. An exceptionally rare example of a partner's desk from the early Victorian era, made by one of the finest, if not the best, furniture manufacturers in English history, Gillows of Lancaster and London. The desk bears the full stamp in the middle drawer 'Gillows - Lancaster' and has the stamped Bramha locks under the crown. The desk is made of speckled oak with a beautiful patina, a wood that is normally lightly grained but exceptional here. The desk is double-sided, designed for use by two partners, with nine drawers on the main side and two large cupboards on the opposite side, rare and highly collectible pieces. Dimensions: height 75.5 cm, width 136.5 cm, depth 84.5 cm. The leg space measures 61 cm in height and 55 cm in width. Measurements are taken at the widest point. Condition: good condition with wear consistent with age and use, slight discolouration.
