Badonviller plate with a guilloche pattern, green slipware.

Here is a Badonviller plate that has everything going for it: a beautifully hand-painted mistletoe design, with deep green leaves and small bluish berries that seem to float on a cream background softly tinged with green. The wavy edge, finely ribbed in relief, is enhanced by a golden trim that gives it a subtle festive air. The stamp on the back, "Badonviller, " marks its Lorraine origin. The fine crazing of the glaze tells the story of the years that have passed without taking away its charm. Whether placed on its small stand, hung on the wall, or slipped into a collection, it will bring a touch of greenery and poetry, from Christmas to the end of summer.
