Vintage carved wooden bookends – Scottish Terrier dogs

Very beautiful pair of vintage wooden bookends carved to represent two stylised terrier dogs. The woodwork is particularly decorative: geometric silhouettes, sculpted fur details, small applied eyes, and a lovely patina in warm tones. The two dogs rest on rectangular wooden bases and mirror each other on either side of the books. A charming piece, both useful and decorative, ideal for dressing a bookshelf, console, or desk. Their graphic aesthetic evokes handcrafted and decorative objects from the mid-20th century. An inscription is present under the bases (names of the dogs?). Overall good vintage condition. Some marks, scratches, and signs of wear are present on the wood and visible in the photographs. Sold as a pair.
