Art Deco Panther in patinated cast iron on a base of onyx and black marble

Elegant Art Deco sculpture representing a resting panther, in a characteristic pose of French animal productions from 1925-1935. The sculpture is made of patinated metal (regule or bronze patina alloy) and rests on a veined beige onyx and black marble base. The taut lines, muscular modelling, and expression of the feline evoke the aesthetics of the great animal sculptors of the Art Deco period. Unmarked piece. The sculpture is hollow, made using an art casting process commonly used during the interwar period. Very beautiful decorative presence for an Art Deco, modernist, or contemporary interior. Condition: Generally good condition. Old patina with wear and nuances consistent with age. Base showing some minor signs of use. No visible losses on the sculpture.
