A wooden side table designed in the combination style of mid century modern and high tech design, and produced by jinota furniture company, czechoslovakia in late 1960’s. In the 1960’s and 1970’s, czech furniture design was largely influenced by french and scandinavian design. This influence is noticeable on this piece: the main decor / design feature is clearly the material itself where the dark walnut veneer combines well with the cold silver colour of the aluminium legs. The design of the piece uses very minimal language but all the proportions and detailing are perfectly balanced and gives the table a very subtle and elegant look. The table consists of four tampered aluminium legs that can be screwed into position. There are black plastic plugs on the bottom of each leg to prevent surface scratches. These legs are screwed directly into a wooden worktop. They all have extra support on each side that not only help stabilising the whole piece, but also adds a sort of tech aesthetic. This solution also makes this table very practical in terms of storing or moving. This piece is in good vintage condition. The old lacquer has been removed and all parts have been cleaned and newly polished in a recent restoration while using original techniques and materials. There is some minimal wear on the table top and the legs.
