Restoration Armchair Mahogany – Dolphin Heads & Swan Neck 19th Century

Magnificent Restoration-style armchair in solid mahogany and veneer, dating from the first third of the 19th century. Its dark frame is captivating due to the finesse of its sculpted ornaments: stylised dolphin heads on the armrest supports, elegant swan-neck armrests with a curved profile, fluted front legs in console style, and saber-shaped back legs. The rectangular backrest is crowned with a superb frieze in flame mahogany veneer with generous grain, revealing beautiful warm reflections depending on the light. The entire piece has been recently reupholstered by an upholsterer in a contemporary fabric with a tropical print on a fuchsia background — lush foliage, white flowers — enhanced with a burgundy piping that elegantly complements the dark wood. A bold marriage between the old and the vibrant. Natural patina of the wood, slight signs of wear consistent with the age of the piece. Overall good condition.
