Beautiful rectangular box in glazed stoneware made by François Eve, a ceramicist in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, Nièvre. This piece stands out for its original geometric shape, with a lid featuring asymmetrical and slightly slanted lines. The decoration showcases stunning effects of glazes in shades of reddish brown, ochre, and yellow, with speckled crystallisations that create a contrast between the surfaces and highlight the research on materials and firings. François Eve (born in 1954) is a major figure in contemporary ceramics in Puisaye. Trained from a young age in the family workshop, he has developed great mastery in throwing, glazing, and high-temperature firings. Based in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, he actively participates in the transmission of pottery skills, particularly through teaching. In 1994, he created the Fountain of Potters, an emblematic work located in the heart of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye. A key artist in Puisaye ceramics, François Eve is referenced in the book "Grès de Puisaye, de Jean Carriès à nos jours – Marques et signatures, " dedicated to the potters and ceramicists of this region. A unique piece, both decorative and representative of the research on glazes that characterise the revival of Puisaye stoneware. Dimensions: Length: 28 cm. Width: 10 cm. Height: 7 cm. Condition: good overall condition. There is a chip on the lower part of the box, completely hidden when the lid is in place. Origin: Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, Nièvre, France.
