Pair of Japanese Kokeshi dolls - 1950s-1970s

Charming pair of hand-painted, turned-wood Japanese kokeshi dolls with pretty blackened metal earrings. These expressive, naive-style figurines are typical of the creations exported from Japan in the 1950s–1970s. One of the dolls bears an inscription evoking the town of Kaminoyama, known for its hot springs. Their graphic, minimalist look makes them perfect decorative objects on a shelf, in a display case, or in a vintage-style child's room. Very good overall condition with slight signs of age that add to their charm. Kokeshi dolls with earrings are rare. "Made in Japan" is written under each doll. Height 13 cm, head diameter 3 cm.
