6 chairs bistro Hofmann model Kohn 254 1/2 early twentieth century

Suite of 6 viennese bistro chairs at the very beginning of the twentieth century. With a few details, the model is a revival of the n°264 1/2 of j&j kohn by the factory of the hofmann family in bielitz (founded in 1881) which since 1907 has entered the mundus group (which will eventually also absorb khon after the war and then thonet). The chairs therefore bear the double label: the iron stamp of the manufacture and the paper label (first version before 1911) of the viennese consortium. -- the so-called "1/2" format was originally intended for public places, not too wide to optimize the number of table seats in the dining room or terrace, while maintaining a good seat height. In this regard, we note that it is more generous at hofmann than at the creator of the model, kohn which will limit its half formats to 45 cm of seat height until 1915 ca.
