Pair of gilded bronze flower vases - Japan - 1900 Meiji era

Pair of Japanese soliflores in gilded bronze, late 19th – early 20th century, circa 1900 (Meiji era). Two slender vases, each adorned with a decorative cicada screw-mounted – a few missing legs. The bronze has been cast in one piece, the original gilding shines softly after careful cleaning. Very good condition, just a few slight signs of age visible in the photos, no deformation to note. In Japanese culture, the cicada is a symbol of summer but also a good luck charm. Height: 39.5 cm. Width: 6.5 cm.
