This superb art deco tea service is made of limoges porcelain from the 1930s. It is composed of a teapot, a sugar bowl, a milk jug and ten tea cups, accompanied by their saucers. With a modernist design, typical of the 1930s-1940s, it is a production of the limoges porcelain manufacture signed "limoges chapus et fils". These are flared cups decorated with screen-printed flowers. The handles are decorated with tiers, the catches are round. The chapus manufacture was founded by jean chapus in 1928 and located at 49, avenue montjoies in limoges. Associated with his three sons, the company name became “chapus et fils”; then in 1933 “chapus frères porcelaines” following the death of jean chapus. This tea set is in very good condition, the cups measure 4.5 cm in height X 10 cm and the saucer measures 14.5 cm in diameter. The teapot measures 25cm X 20cm in height. The sugar bowl measures 19cm X 15cm in height. The creamer measures 17cm X 11cm in height. I point out chips and traces of use. The round socket of the sugar bowl has been glued back together.
