This vase comes from the famous Elchinger factory in Soufflenheim (Alsace), created under the direction of Léon Elchinger (1871-1942) during the pivotal period between Art Nouveau and the beginning of Art Deco (circa 1900-1920). It is distinguished by a very elegant architectural shape with four symmetrical handles. The object features a magnificent two-tone glazing: The upper part and the handles are covered with a fluid glaze of deep and shiny blue-green (celadon spirit). The cylindrical base, on a light beige background with natural weaving (cracks) of origin, is adorned with a superb stylised decoration of pine cones and pine needles in slight relief. A highly decorative and authentic piece, ideal for collectors of art ceramics or to bring a modernist and organic touch to a contemporary interior. Authenticity and marking: Perfectly authenticated on the base by a hand-engraved signature in the raw clay before firing: "Elchinger Fils / Soufflenheim / Alsace" as well as the model and size numbers "605 / 8". Condition: Very good overall condition. The object has retained all its freshness and the glaze its superb shine. There are slight wear marks or micro-chips of glaze on the brown lip of the upper neck (see photos), which is quite normal for pottery of this era and attests to its age. Fast and careful shipping 🎁.
