H: 8 cm; D: 15.5 cm Bernt Friberg (1899–1981) joined the Gustavsberg factory in 1934 as a turner for Wilhelm Kåge. He began signing his own works from 1944. His work is characterised by rigorous technical mastery, both in turning and in the application of complex glazes inspired by traditional Chinese ceramics from the Song and Ming dynasties. Friberg oversaw the entire manufacturing process of his pieces at the Gustavsberg Studio. His work is included in the permanent collections of many institutions, including: Nationalmuseum (Stockholm) Röhsska Museet (Gothenburg) Victoria and Albert Museum (London) Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) (New York) Kyoto Museum of Modern Art (Kyoto)
