A striking and highly sculptural model “Snake” coffee table designed by Knut Hesterberg for Ronald Schmitt, Germany 1965. The table features an expressive polished aluminium base composed of flowing, interconnected forms that curve and twist around one another. The continuous organic lines create a dynamic sculptural composition, changing in appearance depending on the viewing angle. A large round transparent glass top rests above the base, allowing the distinctive aluminium construction to remain fully visible. The combination of polished metal and clear glass gives the table a light appearance despite its strong sculptural presence. In very good vintage condition, with minor signs of age and use. A beautiful example of Hesterberg’s space-age design language, combining sculpture, movement and functionality in one distinctive piece.
