Pair of Empire period armchairs, made of mahogany and gilded bronze, perfectly illustrating the neoclassical taste of the early 19th century. The straight, slightly curved backs are adorned at the top with a fine gilded bronze decoration featuring scroll motifs. The console armrests rest on straight uprights, while the whole is supported by front legs ending in claws, an emblematic characteristic of the Empire style. The seats and backs are upholstered in a light fabric with a discreet pattern, originally studded or previously restored in keeping with the model, offering an elegant contrast to the warmth of the mahogany. The seat rail is also enhanced with gilded bronze appliqués, highlighting the quality of craftsmanship.
