Walnut canapé in Louis XV style, France

Walnut Louis XV style canapé with quality anthracite patterned upholstery. This piece stands out from other seating of the same style with its choice of a sober colour, allowing for delicate sculptural work throughout the walnut structure. It features classic Louis XV style ornamental elements inspired by nature, such as the "S" shaped legs and the shell motif at the top of the backrest. The whole is composed of several mouldings highlighting the curved shapes of the seat. Often regarded as the pinnacle of antique furniture, it was during the Louis XV style period that craftsmen (carpenters, cabinetmakers, sculptors, gilders, etc.) fully expressed their talent. This style is distinguished by its lightness and elegance.
