Beautiful low monoxyle stool made from solid wood (carved from a single block) Diameter 30cm Height 12cm. Original patina preserved, deep geometric sculpture handcrafted in the Highlands of Madagascar. Classic Betsileo motif symbolising the rice field, shared land, and fertility. Women traditionally sat on it to pound rice and chat. A piece from my personal collection brought back from travels in the 90s. With its three short and stable legs, it is ideal as a low end table (Togo style), plant stand, low extra seating, or simply as a decorative object in a contemporary interior, with a zen or bohemian spirit, raw wabi-sabi material. In generally good condition, unrestored, with signs of wear on the tips of the legs and a slight inactive crack on one side, small imperfections attesting to its history that do not threaten its sturdiness.
