Large Victorian English mahogany chest of drawers (renovated)

This large English mahogany chest of drawers dates from the Victorian era, in the second half of the 19th century. Its generous proportions and large drawers make it a particularly functional storage piece. Materials: Made of wood and thick mahogany veneer, the chest features a beautiful natural grain, particularly visible on the fronts of the large drawers. It retains its turned wooden knobs. Features: This English chest of drawers opens with five drawers: two side by side in the upper part and three large drawers across the full width. Each drawer retains its keyhole. The front is framed by two rounded uprights, and the whole rests on a plinth finished with small ball feet. A typical construction of large English chests of drawers from the 19th century. Renovation: The structure of the chest has been completely reviewed and re-glued to restore its solidity. The top has been lightly sanded to reduce the numerous stains present, then protected with a wax tinted to match the piece. The entire chest has been carefully washed, nourished with linseed oil, and then polished to revive the wood while preserving its old patina. Condition: Solid and stable on its feet. Note some small veneer chips related to its age, as well as a slight break on the left handle of the lower drawer. These marks do not affect the solidity or proper use of the piece.
