G. Valentin – Galerie Les Archanges Vallauris - large wall ceramic

Very beautiful and imposing ceramic wall panel by Gilbert Valentin (1928–2000), made in Vallauris as part of his workshop Les Archanges. Ceramic found at my grandmother's. This large composition of glazed ceramic tiles features a rich figurative decoration, constructed around a central tree, stylised foliage, and architecture with very graphic lines. The whole piece combines turquoise, red, green, ochre, and grey glazes, with significant work on relief, material, and textures, characteristic of the artist's production. The piece is signed "G. Valentin, Vallauris" on the front. On the back is an original handwritten inscription: "G. Valentin – Galerie Les Archanges – Vallauris.".
