Very beautiful vintage bowl/trinket dish with free triangular shapes, made and signed by the ceramist Gabrielle Mackiewicz (1928-2019). A student of the famous master Roger Capron in Vallauris, Gabrielle Mackiewicz is particularly known and recognised for her exceptional mastery of working with clay and her characteristic technique of fine mesh engravings and chiselled patterns in the glaze, which is perfectly illustrated in this piece. The contrast between the stylised plant decoration in deep blue mesh pattern, the white details, and the terracotta background gives this piece a great Mid-Century elegance (1950s/60s). The bowl is in generally good condition with a very nice shine to the glaze. Note some slight chips on the edge (perfectly visible in close-up in the dedicated photos), which are quite typical for vintage ceramics from this era and do not detract from its charm and solidity. A beautiful collectible piece, representative of the craftsmanship of an essential artist from the Vallauris school.
