Sculptural Italian coffee table with geometric wooden base

A unique and rare Italian design from the 1970s, made of wood and featuring a beautiful thick, transparent glass top. The sculptural base consists of various wooden elements that together form a strong geometric whole. A characteristic wooden sphere forms the central element on which the glass top rests, combined with an elongated wooden element that forms the base of the table. By combining different wood tones and types of wood in a graphic way, beautiful geometric lines, stripes, and patterns are created. The different directions and shades of the wood give the base an almost architectural appearance. The transparent glass top forms a nice contrast with the warm and expressive wood and fully showcases the special construction. The table is rare and can only be found to a limited extent on the international vintage design market. This table has been offered online in recent years by various international vintage dealers and auction houses under the name Casigliani and attributed to Massimo and Lella Vignelli. However, this attribution turns out to be incorrect. The brand and the designers in question have confirmed that they did not produce or design this piece. The table itself demonstrably dates from the vintage period, but the original designer and manufacturer have not yet been definitively identified. The earlier incorrect attribution has been repeated in several places online, causing this information to spread among multiple dealers and sellers.
